Aspen Passion

Supplies Used: Wood Frame, Canvas, Acrylic Paint, Staples
Surrealist
Dimensions: ~3X5 feet

I love this painting. It came together perfectly. Aspens are my favorite trees and I feel a very strong connection with them. The red and yellow come together in an explosion of Aspen fall color. I hold it close to my heart despite its distant home somewhere in Austin, TX.

Zeitgeist

Supplies Used: canvas, Sims snowboard, needle and thread, acrylic paint
Surrealist
Dimensions: Snowboard
Desired Compensation(open for discussion, trade?): sold

This painting is painted on the back of my first snowboard. This is symbolic because of the freedom that snowboarding gives me, a new perspective on life, one which places emphasis on living in the present. Through this new found freedom I have been able to see some of my systems at the foundation of my society in a new light. This painting illuminates my new perspective.

Sunrise on the Banyan Tree

Supplies Used: Wood Frame, Canvas, Acrylic Paint, Staples
Surrealist, landscape, pop
Dimensions: ~3X2 feet
Desired Compensation(open for discussion, trade?): sold

This painting is inspired by thoughts of life after man. What life will look like when nature is left to its devices on the planet and the recovery that will surely ensue. It is a more hopeful way of looking at the end! The beauty that will sprout up in the face of destruction.

Ocean Acidification

Supplies Used: Pre-made canvas, acrylic paint
Surrealist
Dimensions: ~2X4 feet
Desired Compensation(open for discussion, trade?):sold
This painting is looking at the acidification of our oceans and the toll that it is taking on the entire ecosystem. This painting took on some new meaning with the Gulf oil spill spewing thousands of barrels each day into the delicate gulf environment. Despite its gloomy message, this painting is captivating on any wall. It draws the viewer in. Maybe you can start to shift some paradigms within your own home or community through art. Enjoy!

Slate Creek

Supplies Used: Wood Frame, canvas, acrylic paint, and staples
Landscape
Dimensions: ~ 33"X54"
Desired Compensation(open for discussion, trade?):sold

This landscape was inspired by a photo that my boyfriend had of Slate Creek basin he took on a backpacking trip. I ended up adding some mountains, and snow, but he still says when he looks at it he is reminded of that basin. I love the flow of this painting. From the open sky to the running stream. It gives any space the feeling of being in a wide open mountain basin.

Calla Lily from Mexico

Art inspired by life
Supplies Used: Pre-made canvas, acrylic paint
Dimensions: 16X20 inches

This painting was painted from this photograph that I took in San Miguelle, Mexico. It was December which made the colors, the people, and the vegetation feel so vibrant. It is a beautiful little town located in the center of Mexico (a few hours north of Mexico City). It has an enchanting jardin with cobblestone streets radiating from its buzzing center. A home to many expatriates it has a very interesting blend of different people with colorful stories to tell. The painting captured a moment in time that was still and this calla lily was lit up by an overhead light. Viewing it takes me back to Mexico and the tranquility that could be found moments from the energetic streets just behind the wall to the outdoor gardens that most homes tended.

Fiona

Supplies Used: pre-made canvas and oil paint
Dimensions: 8 x 10 inches
Desired Compensation(open for discussion, trade?):sold

This is an unusual painting for me. I rarely paint portraits and I have only used oil paint a handful of times. I was pleased with the results. I am interested in working more with people and figures in my paintings. This was the first attempt. It was not a self portrait, it was done after a woman in a magazine. I will say that during painting it I had the thought of Fiona Apple in my head, so that might have come out a bit! That is why I call her Fiona.

Winter Wonders

Supplies Used: Pre-made canvas and acrylic paint
Surrealist, landscape, original art
Dimensions: 16 X 20 inches
Desired Compensation(open for discussion, trade?): sold

I am a native of Colorado and a lover of all things winter! I don't know if I could live happily in a place without mountains and natural beauty at my backdoor. I painted this painting years ago. It is simple and elegant. A collection of things that I love (snow, mountains, trees, and the color red)! Enjoy.

Buddha Meditation

Supplies Used: wood, canvas, acrylic paint, handmade stamp, screws, staples
Dimensions: 4 X 5 feet
Desired Compensation (open to both discussion and trading):sold

This painting was a test to my patients. Each of the lines was painted freehand. The hundreds of hand painted lines combine in an image of Buddhist monks meditating. Each Buddha is slightly different and box had its own qualities. It is one of my favorite pieces. I love doing yoga in my living room in front of it. The Buddhas bring a sense of balance and strength to the space.

Zen Garden

Supplies Used: Wood, canvas, acrylic paint, screws, and staples
Surrealist, landscape, original art
Dimensions: 2 X 4 feet
Desired Compensation(open for discussion, trade?): $sold

This painting was created from the idea of a zen space. A quiet place of serenity that is hidden in the folds of reality and fantasy. I love how it finds a balance of both light and dark. The yin and the yang of space and light. I find it brings me peace when I look at it. I hope that it can inspire the same stillness in the viewer.
